Psychological Assessment and Reporting

Psychological assessments are an effective tool in determining the extent to which a person, couple or family are experiencing psychological, emotional or functional difficulties. They can be used to address a wide range of social and personal issues that may be impacting on an individual’s health, relationships, wellbeing and productivity.

The therapists at Wellmind Psychology can provide a number of Psychological Assessments. Some examples are below.

Trauma Assessment

Assessments for trauma can be provided for individuals who have experienced any form of traumatic event. These may include events such as motor vehicle accidents, workplace injury, bullying or cyber-bullying, sexual harassment or sexual assault, or being a victim of other crimes.

Individuals may require these assessments and subsequent reports for criminal injuries compensation claims, return to work cases, Court requirements or for personal use with a view to on-going psychological treatment and counselling. The practitioners at Wellmind Psychology are trained to recognise, assess and treat both acute and chronic trauma symptoms.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Assessment

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a type of neuro-developmental disorder which affects both children and adults. Symptoms are usually present in childhood however some people may not be diagnosed until adulthood. Assessment and clinical diagnosis of ADHD involves diagnostic interviews with the individual being assessed and other relevant people, such as parents, partners or teachers. These interviews generally cover the below areas:

·       Personal history / family history

·       Description of symptoms that are present

·       Discussion of the person’s behaviours in at least 2 separate settings (such as school, work or home)

·       Consideration of other conditions that have similar symptoms to ADHD.

Neuropsychological Testing is also often a main component of ADHD Assessment. This method of analysis involves scientific tests which measure a person’s cognitive functioning, mental capabilities and behavioural functioning.
