FAQs

Do I need a referral to book an appointment and how do I get one?

You do not need a referral to book an appointment with our therapists. However, if you obtain a referral with a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, then you will be eligible for up to 10 Medicare-rebated sessions per calendar year.

What is a Mental Health Care Plan and how do I get one?

If you have a diagnosed mental health condition, you can obtain a Mental Health Care Plan, which means you will be eligible for up to 10 Medicare-rebated sessions per calendar year.

A Mental Health Care Plan is like a roadmap that you and your GP put together to help you and your therapist work towards your therapy goals.

To get a Mental Health Care Plan, book an appointment with your GP (and be sure to mention your reason for the appointment, because it usually takes a little longer than usual).

I’m looking for a therapist for my child . Do we both attend the appointment?

In your first session, we ask that you attend alone so we can gain a full picture of your child’s history, behaviours and challenges from your perspective. After this first session, we encourage your child to attend the sessions alone so they can fully open up without distraction or influence.

We tailor our therapy sessions towards engaging with your child on their level – whether that involves play therapy, art therapy, music or other approaches that encourage self-expression – so they can get the most out of it.

We are unable to disclose details of your child’s sessions in respect of their rights to confidentiality.
